"Saturday Night Live" cast member Brooks Wheelan has been fired after his first season on the show, according to the NY Daily News.

Wheelan, who was one of the six new cast members to join "Saturday Night Live" tweeted the news of his departure from the show on Monday.

"Had a blast and loved every second of it. I'm totally honored to be able to make this next joke. . . FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!," tweeted the 27-year-old comedian.

Brooks Wheelan has officially made the list of former "Saturday Night Live" cast members that were fired after their first season. However, like others on the list including Robert Downey Jr., Billy Crystal and Jenny Slate, we haven't seen the last of Wheelan yet, evident from the tweet director Judd Apatow made following the comedian's announcement.

""@brookswheelan you will have the Robert Downey Jr. post SNL career! (minus the painful drug addiction) Rock on friend!," wrote Apatow.

Wheelan hilariously responded saying that he would be taking this time to "formally submit myself for the Ironman reboot in 2021 and the Chaplin reboot in 2032."

"Saturday Night Live" has been experiencing huge changes in its lineup as of late. Former SNL cast member Seth Meyers exited the show to host "Late Night" during season 39 while earlier this summer, Nasim Pedrad reportedly hinted that she was also leaving the show after five seasons, according to E! News.

Pedrad is rumored to be costarring opposite former SNL writer John Mulaney on Fox's "Mulaney."

"Saturday Night Live" has declined to comment on Wheelan's reported departure and has stated that it will not comment on "casting rumors or changes."
