"Triangle," the tale of three brothers tragically separated in childhood, finally reached first place in the ratings, and just in time for the brothers' inevitable reunion.
The drama which stars Lee Bum Soo, JYJ's Kim Jaejoong and ZE:A's Im Si Wan, scored 9.1 percent in the ratings, placing it before the competition, the comedy "Trot Lovers" and the latest contender "Temptation." The story follows the lives of the three brothers who have grown up very differently and whose fates often intertwine in dangerous ways.
This week's first episode saw Heo Young Dal, played by Kim Jaejoong, finally learn the truth about his relationship to Yang Yang Ha, played by Im Si Wan. They were enemies and romantic rivals but now Yang Yoon Ha knows that they are also brothers. Now that all three brothers know they are related all that's left for them to do is to team up and defeat the men who murdered their father.
But as the drama was extended for an additional two episodes that is not likely to happen right away. Slow plot pacing may be one of the reasons it took the drama 20 episodes to reach first place. Hopefully, justice will be served in a timely manner.
In second place was the musical comedy "Trot Lovers," which showcases Jung Eun Ji's lovely voice in a style the A Pink singer is not best known for. In this drama she plays reluctant trot singer Choi Chun Hee. Ji Hyun Woo plays the manager who originally looked down on her and trot music but has since fallen for both. Shin Sung Rok plays the president of her entertainment company. He confessed his feelings for her, making her rival, played by Lee Se Young jealous.
With that confession and a reluctant kiss between Ji Hyun Woo and Jung Eun Ji, the comedy reached second place with a rating of 8.3 percent.
"Temptation" aired its first episode and rated 7.6 percent. The drama, which reunited actors Kwon Sang Woo and Choi Ji Woo, is about a man who makes a decision in the depths of despair and then cannot retract it. He and his wife, played by Park Ha Sun, are facing bankruptcy and decide to take one last trip. When their only hope for saving their company ceases to exist, Kwon Sang Woo's character Cha Suk Hoon is ready to end it all. That's when heiress Yoo Sae Young, played by Choi Ji Wo,o offers to help him out. But the price she exacts will prove too high. The 7.6 percent rating is a very respectable start.
