"The Whole Truth" has now ready for production this week in New Orleans with Keanu Reeves to star in the film as the defense attorney in the movie. Last Thursday, it was announced that "The Matrix" star and Renee Zellweger will be joined by Jim Belushi to complete the cast.
Belushi will play as the wealthy father who is allegedly murdered by his 17-year-old teenager Mike Lassiter, who will be played by Gabriel Basso. Attorney Richard Ramsay (Reeves) will defend Mike given the evidence on the knife used in the murder case has his finger prints. It will be a challenging role for the lawyer because the teenager hasn't spoken since the crime.
To help him solve the case, Ramsay will seek the help of a young lawyer Janelle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) who is also determined to find out the truth on what really happened on the day of the crime.
Zellweger will portray the role of Mike's mother, although it hasn't yet released what would be the important part of her character.
The movie, which will be helmed by Oscar nominee and "Frozen River" director Courtney Hunt, was supposed to start its production last April but was postponed because of the abrupt exit of the Daniel Craig. "Skyfall" actor was originally cast for the lead male role, which made the production eyed for Keanu Reeves to replace Craig.
Last month, Reeves prepared himself for the role by attending a real courtroom drama in Jefferson Parish Courthouse where he observed a second-degree murder trial in Gretna. It was a murder trial of a New Orleans man accused of Kenner homicide.
He listened quietly to the hearing in the morning, sitting in the fifth-floor courtroom of the 24th Judicial District Judge Glenn Ansardi. Then, he returned in the afternoon to for the prosecutors and defense attorney's closing arguments.
"The Whole Truth" starring Keanu Reeves, Renee Zellweger, and Jim Belushi is expected to hit theaters in 2015.
