Luis Suarez Team News: Barcelona Hopes To Shorten Suarez's Bite Ban Immediately

The Uruguay striker has successfully transferred teams from Liverpool to Barcelona, but the latter will have to deal with his bite ban until November.

Because of Luis Suarez's infamous Giorgio Chiellini bite from the World Cup, Fifa has punished the striker a nine-match, four month ban, which has covered some parts of the World Cup, and will now cover the Premier League.

Luis Suarez was not even allowed by Fifa to attend his own unveiling for Barcelona, but the team said on Wednesday that the player is '100 percent a Barcelona player.'

"Luis Suárez is a Barcelona player for all purposes but the recommendation from our lawyers has been to remain discreet. Our lawyers tell us that we should be very prudent with what we say and your question is asking about something that could only happen after certain verdicts have been reached," said new coach Luis Enrique, and director of football Andoni Zubizarreta.

"Then we'll be able to explain things better. But it's fact, it's true. He's 100% a member of the club," they continued.

"We're speaking to our lawyers to find out the best way of defending his rights but at the moment there's nothing I can say about that," they finished.

Now, Barca shall now test the Court of Arbitation for Sports (CAS), after Fifa has rejected Suarez's and his lawyer's appeal to shorten the ban.

With the $128 million deal to get Suarez into their team, Barcelona should have thought twice before investing in a possible late appearance in the Premiere League. If they failed to cut Suarez's ban, the striker services will only be available on November.

Background: This is already Suarez's third biting incident in his career. Also, his nine- match, four- month ban was the worst ever that Fifa gave to any player in history.
