The football league Chelsea have declared that there had been an agreement between them and Atletico Madrid about the transfer of Felipe Luis amounting to around 34 million dollars or 20 million pounds.

Luis is a Brazilian defender, is foressen to have replaced Ashley Cole for a long term basis. Cole, on the other hand, joined Roma too, this week.

A statement from the club's website said: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Filipe Luis.

"The move is subject to the 28-year-old left-back agreeing personal terms."

On the other hand, a statement from Atletico Madrid's website said, "Atlético Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement to transfer the rights of Filipe Luís, pending a medical with the English club. The Brazilian player had told our club at the end of the campaign his willingness to join the London side."

It was in 2010 that Felipe Luis got hired by the Atletico Madrid. It was from the Deportivo de La Coruna, where he played 180 games. Luis has helped the said league in la Liga during the last season. They helped him defeat their football rivals Real Madrid in the previous season of the Champions League finals.

And while Luis is still subjected to agree with his personal terms, it is also expected that he does it in a breeze. Luis' defending skills will surely help in Chelsea's backline. His strength and depth will also be a great asset to the team.

Moreover, Jose Mourinho, Chelsea manager, has been making all these big team transfers to improve his team for the upcoming season. Names like Diego Costa, the striker, and Thibaut Courtis, the keeper, will appear most likely on Chelsea's line- up as they also made million- dollar deals with the said team.
