The Cavaliers machine is rotating quickly as they secured another player that will support their big man, LeBron James. James Jones was one of LeBron James allies during his Miami Heat days.
Cleveland has offered a one year, veteran-minimum contract to James Jones which will earn him $1.4 million. Jones has played for the Miami Heat's since 2008 and has played with James for four years. And now, he will move to the same team as to where James has just recently agreed to sign with.
Last year, Jones had his career high average of 46 percent on 3-pointers, but was only able to appear in 20 games.
With this agreement, Jones will be playing with both LeBron James and Mike Miller who signed a two year contract with the Cavaliers. All of the three players came from Miami Heat.
Jones currently serves as the secretary-treasurer of the National Basketball Players Association. He started his NBA Career when he was picked 49th by the Indiana Pacers in the 2003 NBA Draft out of the University of Miami. In 2014, he has bee inducted at University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame.
Jones only played 26 minutes during his rookie year but played almost a full season in 2004-05 averaging 4.9 points per game while also ranking 25th in the NBA in three-point conversion percentage (39.8%).
The 6'8" basketball player has played two seasons with the Indiana Pacers before being traded off to the Phoenix Suns in August 25, 2005, in exchange for a 2008 second-round draft pick. He also played for the team for two years before moving to the Portland Trail Blazers. In 2008, he used his player option to opt out of his contract with the Trail Blazers and become a free agent.
He then signed with the Miami Heat for a five year contract in which he stayed with the team from 2008 till 2014.Now, Jones has moved on to another team making use of his shooting skills in order to further his career in the NBA. The collaboration of James, Miller and Jones with the Cavaliers would be something to look forward to in the coming season.
