A missile shot down Malaysia Airlines MH17 containing 295 passengers which crashed in the eastern part of Ukraine last Thursday, causing Ukrainian president to blame the shooting on Pro-Russia separatists who dominated the area. All passengers (280 passengers; 15 crewmembers) perished in the crash.
According to The Guardian, this number of deaths when a missile shot down Malaysia Airlines MH17 will generate expansive and unpredictable outcomes, following the added sanctions US imposed on Russia for their continuous support of the rebels. The country manifested its advocacy by providing the rebels with weapons.
CNN reported that a radar system saw the activation and tracking down of a ground-to-air weaponry system as it monitored the passing of the plan prior to its crash. Another system recorded a heat signature that occurred during the time the plane was shot.
The missile shot down Malaysia Airlines MH17 which was on its way to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam. It crashed in an area located near the village of Grabovo, which was under the pro-Russian rebels' control. To determine the source of the attack, the US is currently studying the missile's trajectory.
As reported by the European air traffic control group, the jet was hit while it was flying at 33,000 feet. Although it was moving at 1,000 feet above the airspace limit set by Ukrainian authorities, the aircraft was still within the surface-to-air weaponry's range. To date, no eastern Ukraine flight is permitted in the vicinity.
In their report, edition.cnn.com added that Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak confirmed the absence of any distress calls from the Malaysia Airlines. He requested the complete access of an international team to the site. He said that they would conduct a thorough investigation to identify the exact causes and circumstances behind the plane's crash.
The Prime Minister went on to declare that in the event that they confirm a missile hit responsible for the crash, they will quickly bring the guilty party to justice.
