When asked to comment on LeBron James decision to go back home to the Cleveland Cavaliers, though hesitant, NBA commissioner Adam Silver approves of the four time MVP's choice.
According to Silver "I really was moved by it. When I read his first-person account on Sports Illustrated, I really was moved by it. It says a lot about who he is, who he has become over the last four years. His statement about northeast Ohio, about hard work [and] this being about something larger than basketball and the NBA"
He added ""I've gotten to know LeBron pretty well over the years, and so I think from that standpoint, I'm really more like a fan. This seemed to be a great moment for the league."
It was just recently when James announced his decision to move back to the Cavaliers instead of signing a max deal with the Miami Heat. His announcement resounded loudly among his fans through an exclusive Sport Illustrated essay by Lee Jenkins.
According to him "When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. I was seeking championships, and we won two. But Miami already knew that feeling. Our city hasn't had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what's most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio."
James has always seen himself returning to Cleveland although as to when, he did not know. And now the day ahs come when that big leap has happened, especially when he is starting to think of his family's future.
"After the season, free agency wasn't even a thought. But I have two boys and my wife, Savannah, is pregnant with a girl. I started thinking about what it would be like to raise my family in my hometown. I looked at other teams, but I wasn't going to leave Miami for anywhere except Cleveland. The more time passed, the more it felt right. This is what makes me happy."
The essay touched a lot of basketball fans making them wish that James' hometown was their own. But the king has already decided "I'm ready to accept the challenge. I'm coming home."
