Right after the Cleveland Cavaliers secured a deal with LeBron James, they have then started to rack up their line up with more prominent players to their team. From Mike Miller to recently contracted James Jones. It seems like the Cavaliers are making their way to becoming the "IT" team in the NBA.
And to make matters more interesting, newly recruited Mike Miller is now courting NBA veteran Ray Allen to the team.
Ray Allen started playing in the NBA in 1996 and has 18 years of NBA experience. Allen was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fifth pick of the 1996 NBA Draft. Since then, he has racked up numerous achievements in his career which includes being a ten-time NBA All-Star, and has won two NBA championships. He has also won an Olympic gold medal as a member of the 2000 United States men's basketball team. Rey Allen is most known for his concise three points shooting as well as free throws.
Now that Allen is turning 39 years old, he is now contemplating on retiring from the games. He averaged 9.3 points per game on 41 percent shooting in the playoffs and is weighing multiple offers. But Mike Miller is offering another alternative for the veteran player. He said "We got James Jones, now we're moving Miami to northeast Ohio. With LeBron James, you are going to win 55 to 60 games regardless. Now it's about what you do in the playoffs. For us, even with the young talent that they have there, you've gotta bring guys that have been there before, even if they are not giving you heavy minutes"
He added "Because those are the guys that understand the preparation, the adjustments, things like that can really bring those guys along. And then you build it from there."
Miller said that he signed for the Cavaliers not because of the money. He was offered a large amount of salary by the Denver Nuggets but chose to play with James once more. He said " It wasn't for the money, it was for the chance to win championships. At the end of the day, we'll see how it plays out"
