Jason Biggs lost quite a few fans yesterday when he made a joke on his Twitter account about the Malaysia Airlines flight that was reportedly shot down over Ukraine.
The "Orange is the New Black" actor had written, "Anyone wanna buy my Malaysia Airlines frequent flier miles?"
The message was later deleted, according to CBS News. Jason Biggs' 451,000 Twitter followers weren't too entertained by the joke regarding the crash, which reportedly killed 298 people.
Despite the uproar that he caused on Twitter, Biggs initially didn't back down from the comment he made, stating, "You don't have to think it's funny, or even be on my page at all. The idea that I wouldn't have any empathy [for] the victims or their families because I make a joke is absolutely ridiculous. [You] know that, right?"
This isn't the first Twitter joke Jason Biggs made that has made headlines.
The 36-year-old reportedly posted a joke about the death of "The Bachelorette" contestant Eric Hill back in May. He also made a joke about "The Bachelor" that referenced the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in March.
This time, Biggs decided to apologize for the comments that he made regarding the recent tragedy, according to TMZ.
"Hey all - ok, so - I am deleting my previous tweets. People were offended, and that was not my intent. Sorry to those of you that were. This is obviously a horrible tragedy, and everyone - including myself - is sad and angry about it. Sending positive thoughts to the victims and their families," wrote Biggs.
The actor added, "P.S. No one is making me send these tweets - I simply understand that my comments might have come off as insensitive and ill-timed. For that, I apologize."
