British Open Leaderboard: Tiger Woods In A Poor Start But Makes It To The Cut

The most action we got from Tiger Woods for the 143rd British Opena is his first birdie. And by this time, he really needed the birdie to make the cut.

He was on eighteenth place last Friday, but the birdie secured him a place to continue on the tournament for the weekend (at least).

He shot 77 last Friday to complement his 68 last Thursday. Leader Rory McIlroy is on the lead by 14 shots.

Nevertheless, Woods admits his mistakes when he said: "I got off to a terrible start again."

"I had some opportunities to make some birdies and I just never did. I had myself in good position to make birdies and I just didn't do it." He admitted to have regrets after playing in his round.

"Yeah, I didn't hit the driver very good today. And I was trying to be a bit more aggressive.

"With the wind the way it was, I could take some of the bunkers out of play and get it down where I sand wedge in the green. Angel was doing that yesterday and did it quite effectively with a more difficult wind.

"And I figured today would be a chance to go out there and be aggressive and do that, take some of these bunkers out of play and just didn't drive it well."

He also added, "I couldn't carry the bunkers, that was the thing."

"Either you lay up short or go ahead and go over the top. And I decided to take a little bit more on today and try to clear them."

The last time Woods won a major tournament was in 2008, while the last time he won in an Open Championship was at the Royal Liverpool in 2006. He is still recovering from a back injury to date, but he said that his major aim at this tournament is first place, even before the British Open started.
