Pitbulls are known to some for being involved in vicious fights, but the time has come for stereotypes to be broken.

A dog named Ace in Indianapolis is making headlines for the heroic act which saved his owner from a fire.

The pitbull won the fight with fire on Wednesday when he woke up deaf teenager, Nick Lamb, who wasn't aware of the fire because he wasn't wearing his hearing aids.

"My dog licked my face and woke me up. I was like, 'Stop it! What? You want to be fed?'" Lamb told Sky News.

He continued, "I couldn't hear anything because I had my cochlear implants off."

Pitbull Ace didn't stop licking his owner's face until the teenager woke up to realize that the house was on fire. Lamb then covered his mouth and nose with a T-shirt and left the house along with his dog, according to Metro.

Lamb, who was born deaf, reportedly told firefighters that this was the first summer he was old enough to stay home alone and that he had returned from summer camp just three days earlier, according to Yahoo News.

Firefighters found the family's cat, Pixie, inside the home. She was taken to a vet for smoke inhalation and is reportedly expected to make a full recovery.

Lindsay Bernard, Lamb's mother, is thankful to Ace for saving the day.

"It's amazing, because if he wouldn't have been there, he probably wouldn't have even woke up," stated Bernard.
