Saturday July 19, 2014, Skye McCole Bartusiak, the actress known as Mel Gibson's daughter in 2000 film 'The Patriot' was found dead by her boyfriend in her bed in the garage apartment next to her parent's home.
According to MTV, Skye has a history of epileptic seizures since she was a baby. However, it is not 100 percent sure yet if this is the cause of her death.
Skye is best-known for her role as Mel Gibson’s daughter in the 2000 film “The Patriot." She also appeared in “The Cider House Rules,” “Don’t Say A Word” and other movies, and TV shows like “24″ and “CSI.” as well.
Her mother told CNN:
“We lost our girl,”
“She was a kind and really beautiful girl.”
Skye's death investigation is ongoing. One of the strongest and possible causes of her death is epileptic seizure as reportedly, she suffered in her medical condition lately. Epilepsy attacks can be completely random and fatal.
One of the angles that might happened before she died is: When the victim’s airway passage was blocked, no one was there to watch and rescue her during the attack.
Her mother said,
“We think she had a seizure and choked and nobody was there. They were working on her for 45 minutes and could not get a heartbeat. I’ve done CPR on that kid more than one time and it just didn’t work this time.”
Skye's mother Helen performed CPR before the paramedics arrived. However, it was too late to restore a heartbeat.
CNN reported last Sunday morning that her mother was looking through photos of Skye’s wonderful life in order to find some images for the funeral. These included pictures of her daughter with Presidents George W. and George H.W. Bush and Mel Gibson, among others.
