‘Sherlock’ Cast Benedict Cumberbatch Gets Surprise From Fans; Actor’s Birthday Celebrated With Costume Party

"Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch received a major surprise from fans as the actor's 38th birthday was celebrated with a costume party where everybody was dressed as the famous detective.

According to the report by UK's Mirror, 113 fans were dressed as Sherlock Holmes and gathered together to greet the actor. The participants went all out for the costumes as they also brought pipes, magnifying glasses, deerstalkers and capes.

The stunt, however, was more than a simple greeting for "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch as the participants also attempted to land in the Guinness World Record for the most number of people dressed as the detective in one place.

"We are all massive Benedict fans so we're hoping that he spots our birthday message for him and hears about what we're doing," the Undershaw Preservation Society spokesman told the publication.

"Everybody in the Sherlock community recognizes that Conan Doyle is the father of modern crime fiction so it's an important project," he said.

The HuffingtonPost also published an article about the actor's many faces in honor of Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch's birthday.

"Well we say looks, we really mean hairstyles. Oh and hats. He does love a hat," the article read. "He's also played a huge wide range of characters from Sherlock Holmes in errrm, 'Sherlock', Smaug in 'The Hobbit', Khan in 'Star Trek Edge Of Darkness', Vincent Van Gogh AND Stephen Hawking."

"Just call him Mr.Versatile," it added.

The HuffPost acknowledged that "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch is very popular with the ladies that they even coined a term to describe them, "Cumberbitches."

Earlier, "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch find the world of glamor and fame is very difficult to keep up.

"It's really hard. It's really, really hard. It's a difficult job with all the success comes a whole new load of prolems," Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch told the "British Academy of Film and Television Arts" in an interview.
