If you may not already know, Chris Colfer is more than just a character on the hit TV series "Glee". He is also a published author, as well as a singer, screenwriter, and producer.

He shows off his book "The Land of Stories: A Grimm Warning" at The Grove on Saturday afternoon, July 19, in Los Angeles. He attended a signing for his new book at the Barnes & Noble bookstore.

"'The Land of Stories' is the #4 NYT Best Selling SERIES and top middle grade series! Highest books on the list without a film franchise...yet," Chris tweeted before the event.

The new book debuted at No. 29 on USA TODAY's book list. It also marks Colfer's third book in as many years.

In an interview, Colfer shared that he started coming up with the stories when he was seven-year-old. The main idea surrounding his books is about what happens to beloved storybook characters after "happily ever after."

"I wrote the majority of the first (book) backstage at arenas while we were on the (Glee) world tour," he says.

"I think I have a mental illness. When I was younger I could never get my homework done," he says. Now, "I've been able to do eight jobs at once. I never thought I'd be able to do all this."

His many jobs include writing his own Glee episode that aired last season, working on a fourth The Land of Stories book and, after Glee, playing Noel Coward in the upcoming biopic about the British playwright.

Also talking about his Glee character "Kurt", he says, "A lot of the (TV) audience think Glee is a documentary. There's a very select group of young girls that really want everything to be real."

He also mentioned that these are the people that might write fan fiction about Colfer's character, or even Colfer himself. "I don't look at that, because it's terrifying. It's scary. I just. I can't. I learned that the hard way," he says. "I don't mind them writing about the character, but when they write about (the Glee actors) doing things with each other, it's just uncomfortable."
