Over a stretch of four days in Royal Liverpool, Rory McIlroy appeared as a golfer with exceptional talent. Walking off the 18th green as the British Open champion, he watched his name being engraved in the claret jug as the events champion.

According to the young talent "I'm immensely proud of myself. To sit here, 25 years of age, and win my third major championship and be three-quarters of the way to a career Grand Slam ... yeah, I never dreamed of being at this point in my career so quickly."

Based on record books, McIlroy is considered as one of the youngest players to get three legs of the career Grand Slam. Among the others are Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

The 25 year old Irish had to make extra effort to win the tournament. He won by two shots over Sergio Garcia and Rickie Fowler to become the first start-to-finish winner since Woods at St. Andrews in 2005.

He said "I've really found my passion again for golf. Not that it ever dwindled, but it's what I think about when I get up in the morning. It's what I think about when I go to bed. I just want to be the best golfer that I can be. And I know if I can do that, then trophies like this are within my capability."

It was a powerful ending to a strong start from Rory. He was able to set up a two-putt birdie to restore his lead to three shots. He finished with two pars, tapping in for par on the 18th green.

Rory's mom was exuberant after seeing his son wins another major. She was not able to witness his won win the two other majors beforehand.

McIlroy now only has one more major to finish for this year and he is definitely excited. He is looking forward to the Augusta National next April.

Rory had a bumpy year with lawsuits; engagement then break ups, his road to the majors were smooth sailing. With new endorsement coming from Nike and a changed management, definitely there are a lot of things going on for the young star.
