Neymar To Tragic World Cup: We Tried, But We're Slipping'

"I think Brazilian football is behind. It's behind Germany and Spain. We've slipped behind and we have to be man enough to admit it."

Neymar Jr., Brazil talisman has finally had an interview after Brazil's tragic fourth place ending in the previously concluded World Cup in their own nation.

In an interview with Globo television broadcast, the 22- year- old forward said that the Selecao deserved more than the 7-1 defeat from the Germans in their semi- final. It can be remembered that Neymar failed to play in the said game because of his broken vertebra caused by Colombian player Juan Camilo Zuniga.

When asked about the possible reason that caused the national team' defeat, he said this: "There was no particular mistake made by the Selecao. I am not someone who understands a huge amount about tactics."

He also did not believe that Luis Felipe Scolari, their coach, is the one to blame in the record- breaking loss. Scolari also lead the team to winning the World Cup successfully in 2002, but he has now quit his job amid the criticisms for his line up during the World Cup.

"I had a leader (who was) one of the best Brazilians coaches I've had," Neymar said, perataining to team boss Scolari.

The Barca player also rejected the idea that the Selecao did not train well for the tournament. He said, "we always trained."

He added, "We gave our all."

However, he said that training in Europe might be more intense than their training in Brazil. He said, "You train more, but sometimes you train with less determination. That's how Brazilians are."

Neymar believes that Brazil can become a football powerhouse in South America again, even after this heart breaking World Cup this year. The next World Cup will be in 2018 in Russia, but it is still unsure if Neymar could play in the upcoming Premiere League for Barcelona because of his backbone injury.
