Is "24" TV series spinoff in the works? Fox Networks Group CEO Peter Rice is non-commital about the possibility even if he insisted that he's a fan of the series.
The network chairman was one of the panelists of the Television Critics Association summer press tour where he was asked about the future of the franchise, or whether there's going to be a "24" spinof.
"I loved this year's season of 24. I've always been a fan," he said, in a report by TVLine.
"We haven't had a specific conversation about it coming back yet, but I'm sure we will in the future. It's a wonderful franchise. When you look at the show itself, it has many more stories to tell. I think we need to sit down and talk to the creators," he told the press and participants of the press tour.
According to Brian Lowry of Variety, there's a good chance of a "24" TV series spinoff based on the results of the "Live Another Day" finale.
"With all the changes being made and uncertainty surrounding Fox's schedule, one suspects there still might be a future for '24' as a utility player based on its summer results, assuming the parties are agreeable," he wrote.
Variety added: "In that respect, Jack might take some comfort in the words of Scarlett O'Hara, another protagonist bad luck appeared to follow around: 'Tomorrow is another day.'"
Michael Nadeau of Boston.com wrote that a friend suggested a good idea for next season, with Kate Morgan hiring the services of Chloe, Tony Almeida and Aaron Pierce and they sneak into Russia to bust him out of prison.
In the "24: Live Another Day" season finale, Kate Morgan surrendered her badge and gun and left the CIA after failing to save Audrey from a sniper's bullet.
"My best guess for this franchise's future? Movie. It's come close to happening before, and it's probably the best way to wrap everything up," he said.
