Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, fresh from his successes in previous movies such as Star Trek Into Darkness, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, will next be seen still as the gold-hoarding dragon in The Hobbit's last installment, The Hobbit: Battle of The Five Armies coming this December.
But before that, fans can watch Cumberbatch playing another role that is somewhat similar to his Sherlock Holmes character. In The Imitation Game, the British actor will be playing what is described in the trailer below as an "irascible genius." But this is no fictional detective. The character is based on the life of real life genius Alan Turing.
This new Benedict Cumberbatch movie, is directed by Morten Tyldum, a Norwegian film director who has won a BAFTA for Best Foreign Language film. The movie follows the life of English mathematician and logician Alan Turing, who helped in the second war efforts by cracking the renowned Enigma code. The Enigma code, according to the trailer, is "an unbreakable Nazi code" which would help the Allied Forces win the war.
In The Imitation Game's trailer, viewers will get a glimpse of this conflicted genius who may or may not be concealing something that could very well tarnish his entire reputation.
This new movie is filled with notable UK actors that are familiar for their work in TV and movies. Keira Knightley is a co-star, as well as Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones) and Allen Leach (Tom Branson on Downton Abbey).
The Imitation Game will have its grand debut at opening night gala of the British Film Institute's 58th London Film Festival this October.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the stars of the movie, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Keira Knightley will walk the red carpet for the premiere. They will be joined by the director, Morten Tyldum.
