132 dogs and four exotic birds were removed from a Northern Virginia breeder's facilities in early July, according to the Huffington Post.

Amongst the large number of dogs was Noisette, a puppy thought to be somewhere between 1 and 3 years old that was rescued by Anne Wuhrer.

Noisette was reportedly found dehydrated, with bad eyes and bad teeth, and was suffering from malnutrition on top of being anemic and covered in fleas, dirt and feces. The little puppy had "never been in a house" and wasn't housebroken when Wuhrer took her in.

She also had a very difficult time trusting her new family.

"Often survivors of puppy mills are scared, a little feral in the sense that they hadn't been socialized," explained Wuhrer, who helps run Dogs XL Rescue, a Baltimore-based big dogs group that helped with the bust this month.

Despite her trauma at the puppy mill, Noisette is now adjusting to her new family, which consists of Wuhrer, her husband, their three children and the family's two pit bull mixes.

"Noisette matches. She follows their lead on routine and she picks up on the fact that they are comfortable and trust us. Often this is essential when rehabilitating a dog that has had not home socialization and trying to figure things out," explained Wuhrer.

Noisette, described to be a "silly" dog that just "wants to be loved" is now letting her new family touch her now too.

The puppy recently had her first snuggle with a human when Wuhrer's husband, Chris, lay still as he could for 20 minutes so Noisette could approach him.
