Rachel McAdams made an appearance in the Today show on Tuesday to promote her newest movie A Most Wanted Man. Host Matt Lauer told the actress that he and his co-host had seen The Notebook during a plane ride and could not help but tear up.
"It's funny, men want to confess that they cried and it felt good. It's a lovely thing," Rachel said about the popularity of the movie based on the novel by Nicolas Sparks.
Lauer then proceeded to show the 35-year-old actress the recently released clip of her audition clip for The Notebook, which McAdams watched -- cringing in embarrassment.
The Canadian beauty starred in the well-loved romantic movie with her ex-boyfriend Ryan Gosling. The movie was well received and performed successfully at the box office. And since its showing, it has gained a cult following.
Recently, it was revealed by the movie's director that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, in fact did not get along on the set. Director Nick Cassavetes shared, "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, 'Nick come here.' And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?' I said,'What?' He says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this.'"
McAdams has certainly moved on from her The Notebook role from ten years ago. Her latest film, A Most Wanted Man, is a spy thriller based on the novel by John le Carre. It is directed by Anton Corbijn, and co-stars the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Robin Wright. The movie was first released at the Sundance Film Festival, and it will hit cinemas on July 25.
