If watching k-dramas has inspired you to visit Korea, you're not alone. It inspires some fans to visit the Korean sites of their favorite dramas.
For example, popular Chinese actress Jiang Xin enjoyed watching the drama "You Who Came From The Stars" so much that she visited Korea and relived some of the scenes.
She visited Jangsa Island's marine park and N. Seoul Tower where the characters played by Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun had their drama dates. She also went to Myeong-dong and shopped for fashion and make-up that Jun Ji Hyun's Hallyu star wore in the drama.
If dramas have inspired a similar trip in your imagination a new contest could win you a vacation there. The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) campaign, "To:ur Imagination" offers a look into the Korean vacations of international celebrities and an opportunity to win one of eight excursions to the country this fall.
Last May, KTO invited celebrities from the U.S., as well as Thailand, Japan and China to visit Korea and experience the country's latest styles, drama, and beauty treatments.
Youtube make-up and beauty artist Michelle Phan visited Korea with her boyfriend, Dominique Anthony Capraro. The couple explored Jejudo Island and other attractions, experiencing Korea's finest spas and unique style. They captured their trip on video to share with her worldwide followers. You can view the video of her vacation online at: www.tourimagination.com.
"The natural beauty of Jejudo Island is breathtaking," Phan said. "The spas were exquisite and relaxing, and the food was delectable. Our romantic vacation to Korea this spring was beyond our imagination."
Other international celebrities who recently traveled to Korea include:
Kenichi Ebina, a global star from Japan who won America's Got Talent 2013 with his creative martial arts and dance performance. While in Korea, he learned Korea's Taekwondo from Olympic gold medalists at the Taekwondo Center in Muju, and enjoyed the hologram performance of top k-pop artists at Klive, the world's first hologram concert hall.
Mario Maurer, Thailand's top actor, experienced Korea's latest trends in popular fashion and shopping districts such as Heyri, Samcheong-dong, and Garosu-gil.
To reflect the interests of global travelers, KTO recently announced their new brand slogan, "Imagine Your Korea." K-pop band Big Bang serves as the honorary ambassador for the "To:ur Imagination" campaign and appears in a global TV ad for KTO.
Winners will be asked to record videos of their journeys, and share them online. You can enter for your chance to visit Korea by August 31 at www.tourimagination.com. Eight winners will be selected at random to receive a four-day vacation for two.
