The "Late Show" will continue to stay in New York City, despite upcoming changes in the talk show's host.

David Letterman, the show's current host is set to retire from the show next year and his seat will be passed on to Stephen Colbert. However, contrary to multiple rumors and despite the upcoming shift, the talk show will continue to shoot and air from New York City's Ed Sullivan Theater.

City Governor Andrew Cuomo confirmed the news and said, "I am pleased to announce that the Late Show will stay in New York, where it belongs. As David Letterman passes the baton to Stephen Colbert, I look forward to watching The Late Show from the historic Ed Sullivan Theater for years to come."

The "Late Show with David Letterman" has been filming in the same location for the past 21 years, according to Daily Digest News.

Fans of the "Late Show" became concerned over the talk show's filming location after Letterman first announced his resignation on April 3.

Meanwhile, CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves ended such speculations and concerns and announced, "We're thrilled to continue broadcasting CBS's Late Show from New York City and call the Ed Sullivan Theater its home. We're excited to be here in late night for many years to come."

This news reaffirms the fact that only Conan O'Brien on TBS and Jimmy Kimmel on ABC will have their late-night talk shows shot from Los Angeles.

As of late, there has been no date when as to when Letterman will officially exit from the "Late Show." Multiple sources are speculating that the shift will take place towards the end of May 2015, where Letterman will most likely say goodbye from his resident show and Colbert will take his place a few months thereafter, on September 2015, the New York Times reported.
