"Notting Hill" actress Julia Roberts has finally opened up following the untimely death of her half sister, Nancy Motes and confirmed that she once urged her mom to change her last name, Motes.
A source close to the actress' family said, "Julia wanted it so her mom could distance herself from not only the abusive ex-hubby Michael Motes, but also the memory of Nancy herself."
Motes committed suicide earlier this year and was found in a bathtub in her Los Angeles home. At the time, investigators ruled out that the cause of her death was indeed suicide, according to Web Pro News.
A few days later, Motes suicide note was made public. In the letter, she wrote, "My mother and so-called siblings get nothing except the memory that they are the ones that drove me into the deepest depression I've ever been in."
Motes also addressed her fiancé John Dilbeck, who she was supposed to marry in May and wrote, "I know this will effect you the most & I can't apologize enough. I was truly blessed & lucky to have you as my true love and best friend. I will carry you with me forever."
Prior to her death, Motes and Roberts made their feud public after the former tweeted nasty things directed at the "Pretty Woman" star, Inquistr reported.
At that time, Motes wrote, "Just so you all know, 'America's Sweetheart is a B****!!" In another tweet she wrote, "My own family has abandoned me."
In yet another tweet, Motes wrote, "Feeling blessed, even though I'm sick as a dog! I'm very grateful that I have my loves family, since my own family has abandoned me."
If these were not enough, Motes once again attacked her half sister via Twitter and quipped, "Hey Hag! Glad you f***** with me yet? You're going to LOVE what's coming! FYI - you're an awful, hate filled old pathetic excuse for a human. I must be grateful & not hateful. I must forgive. But D*** that is REALLY hard thing to do sometimes, right?!?!"
