25 year old point guard, Jeremy Lin is excited to be playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. He said on Thursday that he is looking forward to making a name for himself down at the Lakers but wont replicate the "Linsanity" craze he is known for at his former team.

Lin was officially introduced by the LA Lakers last Thursday. According to him "I'm not trying to relive that banner season. I think that's been a big weight off my shoulders and I think that's very important for me as a player." He added ""I'm not trying to recreate a 'Linsanity.' I'm not trying to be that phenomenon that happened in New York. I think I just want to be myself more than ever."

Lin receiving no athletic scholarship offers out of high school and being undrafted out of Harvard University. Because of this, he reached a partially guaranteed contract deal in 2010 with his hometown Golden State Warriors. In February 2012, he unexpectedly led a winning streak by New York while being promoted to the starting lineup, which generated a global following known as "Linsanity."

Lin is the first Chinese-American who was able to play in the NBA. His professional career started in 2010. He met sports agent Roger Montgomery at the Portsmouth Invitational in which the latter gave his commitment but unfortunately, no team chose Lin in the 2010 NBA Draft. Donnie Nelson of the Mavericks was the only General Manager who offered him an invitation to play in the Summer League.

Last season Lin has an average of his career best at 44.6 percent shooting from the field and limited his turnovers to an average of 2.5 a game.

According to Lin "If you asked me, or I think if you asked any player, I think they'll believe that they're capable of starting. But I think if there's anything I've learned from this past year, it's really not that much about who starts. I think it's more about who finishes and how you play with the time that you're given"

Lin wants to improve his play and help the team move pass their disappointing last season.
