Didier Drogba has re- joined his old football club, Chelsea, after coach Jose Mourinho sweet talked his way into Drogba's mind, dictating that he should not entertain offers from elsewhere but Chelsea.
He played in the last World Cup as an Ivory Coast striker, but he was in two- year contracts with three Major League Soccer clubs in North America. However, he could not resist the call of the English football club.
"It was an easy decision," Drogba said, pertaining to his return to London.
"I couldn't turn down the opportunity to work with José again. Everyone knows the special relationship I have with this club and it has always felt like home to me. My desire to win is still the same and I look forward to the opportunity to help this team. I am excited for this next chapter of my career."
It seems like Drogba was more nostalgic than brainwashed with his decision, thanks to Coach Mourinho. The Ivory Coast striker joined the club as a free agent, with his expiring contract with Galatasaray coming to a halt. Galatasaray has also said that they cannot accommodate the player for the next season, whether on a field or as a coach.
Mourinho has been known for his great courting skills in the name of the summer football market. It can also be noticed with Samuel Eto'o's and Diego Costa's decisions of joining Chelsea in the upcoming Premiere League.
However, Mourinho's performance on the field will be evaluated in the upcoming tournament, too.
The coach said: "Didier is coming because he's one of the best strikers in Europe.
"I know his personality very well and I know if he comes back he's not protected by history or what he's done for this club previously. He is coming with the mentality to make more history."
