Scarlett Johansson as Lucy proves her badass acting chops anew as she plays the title role in Luc Besson's high profile, sci-fi action thriller that opened on July 25. The movie indulges viewers with the possibility of turning into a superhuman should they figure out a way to use all 100% of their brain's capacity.

Scarlett Johansson as Lucy got first dibs on the experience. The tables made a 360-degree turn for the down-on-her-luck damsel after her body reacted differently (and very advantageously for her) to a pack of drugs, identified as CPH4, which was surgically placed in her body. Forced to become a carrier, she was supposed to smuggle them for a ruthless group of criminals. However, her mission for them came to naught after what happened.

Enter Morgan Freeman. Playing the role of neuroscientist Professor Norman, his studies and theories on the human use of the brain serves as Lucy's gauge and explanation for her rapidly increasing use of her gray matter's potentials.

The thriller shows Scarlett Johansson as Lucy at her strongest (mentally, physically and many more). She just kept getting better as she rapidly (but unconsciously)uses up a greater portion of her brain.

From the review featured in New York Times, they cited Besson's efforts to maximize the femme fatale role of his main character. Accordingly, it was not his first time, he obviously had a thing for powerful female characters, as proven by his 1990 film "La Femme Nikita."

They also noticed how fast-paced the movie was, plunging his characters form one situation to another with flowing ease. However, they cited that he despite his being a reliable entertainer; he had a penchant for recycling other director's ideas.

Scarlett Johansson makes the movie a real entertaining piece that keeps viewers watching until the credits flash on the screen. With her rapidly increasing superhuman abilities in the film, she was the embodiment of a superwoman sans the fancy costumes.

ABC News, in its review, found the movie compelling right from the start. However, they noted that the plot devolved into something quite insensible. However, because the movie had a great start and spanned less than 90 minutes, it would not drag on and disappoint viewers.
