Manny Pacquiao news reveal British boxer Amir Khan is targeting a fight against "Pacman" in 2015. "King Khan" also believes that his experience as Freddie Roach's former student can be helpful for him once the match-up does materialize.
The former two-time world champion was originally slated to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, but due to his commitments as an Islam for Ramadan, he opted out of the fight.
In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, it was revealed that while "King Khan" is still eyeing for a fight against Floyd "Money" Mayweather, he is also willing to face Manny Pacquiao if his original plan does not push through.
"If the Mayweather fight happens, it happens," Khan said about the Manny Pacquiao news. "If it doesn't, it doesn't. It's one of those fights I wanted and everyone else wanted. I really believe the speed could have given him a lot of problems."
Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao used to be former stablemates and sparring partners under Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym. But his friendship with the eight-division world champion is not a deterrent for his desire to be involved in bigger fights.
"Manny Pacquiao is still the same fighter," Khan said. "I still have a lot of respect for him, he's a great fighter, but these are the fights I want."
Manny Pacquiao news also reveal that "Pacman" will be fighting undefeated New Yorker and current WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri on November 22. Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather will be facing Marcos Maidana in a rematch on September 13th.
While Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather are total strangers when it comes to a more personal level, the British boxer considers Manny Pacquiao as a dear friend and Freddie Roach as a former mentor.
But ironically, he also sees this as something he could use to his advantage.
"Freddie Roach used to train me, so there's a lot of history there," Khan added. "That would be a huge fight. I know what to expect from Manny Pacquiao. We used to get the better of him in sparring and everything."
