Many thought that the Jamaican born superstar, Usain Bolt won't be able to join the Commonwealth games. It was due to the athlete's slow recovery from a foot injury. This is the first time that Bolt will join the games. He chose to not join the individual sprints and instead committed to a relay.

According to Bolt "''I am here to run. I will be running definitely."

When probed whether there is a possibility of him withdrawing late from the games, he answered "That's a very weird question. ''Yes, I am here to run, I don't see why else I would travel all this way to Glasgow."

A lot of media has been waiting for Bolt to come out and most of them are not there for the job rather they are there to pay homage to a great player and is there to be a fan. According to one reporter "I have to be honest. ''None of us are here for work, we are actually here as fans. We were wondering if we could get a Channel Ten selfie with you."

Although the said reporter didn't have the opportunity for a selfie, the interview went on with a question regarding the champion's foot.

Bolt answered "The injury has completely gone, fitness wise I've done a lot of training over the past month. ''I've been really pushing myself and I'm in pretty good shape, but I'm not yet in running shape, hence why I'm running the heats just to get a few runs in."

He added "I won't be doing a lot of races this season, just four. I'm just taking my time trying to get myself into running shape, but not to push myself too much and then get injured again. I'm focused on just getting through the season."

The Commonwealth games with be Bolt's first competitive action this year saying "As long as there's athletes and there's eight lanes there's always competition. ''For me, it's something to add to my accolades over the years."

Bolt also said that he will try to stay away from the media before the race begins and that he just stays inside his room and talk to co-athletes joining the race.
