A couple of months before the legendary vampire's origin story hits theaters, lead actor Luke Evans has already spilled the beans on a possible Dracula Untold sequel.
The actor confirmed sequel discussions in an on-set interview with Screen Rant, as well as an endless possibility for the future.
"He's immortal, so it could go anywhere," Evans said about the film's future story. "There's a lot of discussions about that so it's very exciting and I'm very much involved in the whole thing."
He does, however, assure future movie-goers that the production team is still focusing on setting up concrete groundwork for Dracula Untold.
He added, "If you're going to start a story anyway you gotta start at the beginning and so you could go anywhere with Dracula right now. After this movie finishes the story finishes in a very, it's like an open book where can he go."
Dracula Untold tells the reason why Vlad III Țepeș chose to become an immortal being. With his family and kingdom facing annihilation from old acquaintance Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper), he seeks the help of a dark force to become more powerful. The immortal Dracula is then born.
According to Screen Rant, the movie set to hit theaters this October could end in one of two ways: Dracula cold be driven away by his family and subjects when his dark powers get revealed or they could all die in the battle with Mehmed II.
With some hundred of years between this origin story and Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, the filmmakers can really explore a lot of different possibilities for future Dracula Untold sequel projects.
Executive producer Alissa Phillips, however, says that Universal Studios is currently focused on "getting this one right," further explaining that they will be "dooming" themselves thinking about a second or third installment when the first one isn't even done yet.
"I believe that if we are rewarded with success, we would love the story to continue, absolutely," Phillips added, "We would love Luke Evans to continue playing Vlad. We just need to get the first one right."
It seems a Dracula Untold sequel will depend highly on its success in the box office this October.
