Apple is preparing yet for the release of new MacBook models with Retina display. A photo was leaked on one Asian forum, showing of what seems to be an Apple Store signage with some of the details on the new computers.
The first 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro will run on intel Core i7 clocked at 2.2GHz with turbo boost of up to 3.4GHz paired with 16GB of default memory. It also has an SSD of 256 GB and the Intel Iris Pro Graphics card.
The other model will have a 2.5GHz Intel Core i7 with turbo boost of up to 3.7GHz. Aside from the Intel Iris Pro graphics card, this one comes with 2GB GDRS NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics card. The rest of the specs are the same as the previous model.
The biggest surprise of them all is a model that comes with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 CPU that you can turbo boost up to 4.0GHz, 16GB of memory, and a 1TB SSD. This too has the same graphics cards and specs.
With the new family of processors, the 15-inch model offers eight hours of battery life while the 13-inch version offers nine hours of battery life, an overall increase from the seven hours of battery life of the pre-Haswell generation.
The Haswell-based 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro retains the same form factor as its predecessor, but the 13-inch version has been slightly redesigned with a slimmer chassis to match the thickness of the 15-inch model. Both Retina MacBook Pros are now 0.71 inches thin.
Based on the leaked photo, the cost of the new Retina MacBook Pro models will remain the same and could go on sale this week. Apple currently sells only two basic models of 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro: a 2.0GHz Intel Core i7 and a 2.3GHz model. They are priced at $1,999 and $2,599, respectively.
