Drew Barrymore's half sister, Jessica Barrymore, was found dead in a vehicle parked on a suburban street in San Diego, on Tuesday.
Jessica Barrymore, 47, who shares the same father with Drew, died in National City, just two days before her 48th birthday, according to First Post.
"The 50 First Dates" admitted to not being that close to her older sister but expressed her sadness over her loss.
"Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss," the actress said.
As of late, police officials are investigating the actual cause of Jessica's death, but multiple sources previously claimed that a local woman found Jessica dead inside her vehicle, with dozens of pills scattered around her.
Drew and Jessica's brother, John, revealed to the Daily News that her half sister may have died due to drug overdose, the Daily Mail reported.
"It looks like it was a drug misadventure. Mixing alcohol and pills. I seriously doubt she took her own life," John, 60, explained to the publication.
He added, "There were some empty vodka bottles, a couple bags of meth and a variety of pills in the car. My guess is that it was the booze and pills, like with Heath Ledger."
Friends of Jessica have posted messages on John's Facebook page, expressing their grief over her untimely death. One of her friends, Arlene August, wrote, "Sad day for my dear friend Nina Wayne. Her daughter Jessica Barrymore is no longer with us. Nina was visited by Jessica yesterday."
Jessica used to work at a Petco pet-supply store, where she was well loved by her colleagues and customers, News Day noted. She shared the same father with Drew, 39, but seldom saw him because he died in 2004.
