Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice stood in front of an audience and spoke about his recent arrest for domestic violence.
It can be remembered that Rice was arrested following February 15 where he struck his ex fiancée Janay Palmer in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The six year veteran has been accepted into a diversion program. When the program is completed, there is a possibility that Rice's charges will be obliterated.
According to Rice "My actions that night were totally inexcusable. My daughter is 2 years old now. One day she's going to know the power of Google. Me having to explain that to her, what happened that night, that's something I have to live with the rest of my life."
He added "'I don't want to keep re-living the incident. I'm trying to move forward. What happened that night was a huge mistake, and that's what I'll keep it at. I don't condone any of my behavior. I take full responsibility for my actions. My wife can do no wrong."
Rice won't be able to play for the season opener against AFC North champion Cincinnati on Sept. 7 and the Sept. 11 game on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It was obvious that Rice is in pain over what transpired. He was supported by his team mates in the news conference which was held not because of football but was solely to address the of Rice na dto apologize for the incident.
Rice said "'It was the first time it ever happened.'I've never had a problem with domestic abuse. This was a one-time incident."
There had been news speculating that the fine rendered for Rice was too light but footballer would not like to dwell on the matter rather he said that he would accept any sanctions given to him by the organization.
"No football games and no money was going to determine what I have to live with the rest of my life. That punishment I received from the NFL, it hurts that I can't play football. I never planned to appeal any kind of punishment. So whether it was two games, four games, six games, eight games, I was going to own my actions and be a man about it and take whatever was given to me."
