Irina Shayk in "Hercules" movie is a step up in the supermodel's career. Runway's newest hot item looks to cross over into acting at the peak of a successful modeling career.
Irina Shayk in "Hercules" movie is Megara, the first wife of the demigod played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The Rock's newest movie could be one of the year's best blockbusters, considering the success of previous movies like "The Scorpion King."
Shayk is a bit taken aback by the new horizons in her career. "This is a wonderful chance for me. Modelling has given me financial independence and I treat it very seriously as a business. Acting is something more creative for me and maybe this role will lead to more work in movies. I don't know, maybe this film will open some doors for me."
Music studies was her first interest growing up, and though evidently beautiful during her teenage years, she didn't think of modeling until the opportunity became financially necessary. Irina and her sister Tatiana eventually signed up for beauty school.
Casting Irina Shayk in "Hercules" movie was an inspiration, and she gives kudos to co-star Dwayne Johnson for making a similar transition from the WWE to becoming a Hollywood celebrity.
"I was a big fan of Dwayne. I've seen many of his movies and I always thought he should make a big movie like this where he can be at the centre. This is a great role for him and I'm so happy for him that he is getting this chance. He's a very cool and smart man and he had thought very hard about Hercules and knows everything about the history of the character."
She sees acting opportunities as a dream come true, but keeps her expectations realistic just the same.
"It was never a real ambition but of course you dream about acting and all the glamour of that world. I never even though of becoming a model until my father died and it was hard for my family. I started modelling as a career very late when I was almost twenty and I worked very hard to build my career. It didn't come out of the blue." (yahoo.com)
