There is a new Baloo in the jungle.
Disney has casted actor Bill Murray to play one of the most important roles in its forthcoming remake of the classic, "Jungle Book."
News made the rounds last week that the studio has already fulfilled the bear necessity of the animated classic with the addition of the legendary comedian as Baloo, a laid-back and ticklish bear who will befriend and mentor orphan boy Mowgli.
Jon Favreau, who is set to direct the live version of the classic, dropped the bomb on Friday by posting a picture from the original movie, complete with the caption: "Looks like we cast our Baloo. So we have that going for us. Which is nice."
Baloo and Mowgli's tale of friendship was based on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 book of the same number. But it wasn't until Disney adapted the book into an animated movie in 1967 that Baloo reached the hearts of fans worldwide.
Baloo is also perhaps known in the movie for singing the Oscar-nominated Bes Song, "The Bare Necessities," as he was teaching Mowgli how to live the life of leisure while surviving in the jungle.
The "Ghostbusters" alum will join the ranks of other A-list celebrities who have signed on to star in the movie. Last week, Christopher Walken and "Breaking Bad's" Giancarlo Esposito were confirmed to be providing the voices for the characters of King Louie and Akela, respectively.
Actors including Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong'o, Ben Kingsley and Idris Elba rounded up the star-studded cast of the film, which is said to be a mixture of CGI and live action footage.
Meanwhile, 10-year-old Neel Sethi has landed the role of Mowgli. He will be the only actor to appear on the screen.
Disney's new take on the much-loved classic is slated to hit the theaters in October 2015.
