Walt Disney Co. is looking at creating more "Star Wars"-inspired designs at Disneyland Hollywood Studios and Resorts to help boost the park's profits.
Chief Executive Bob Iger confirmed the news on Tuesday and said, "Disney is developing designs for a far great Star Wars presence in the parks," according to Reuters.
However, as of late, not much information has been disclosed yet with regards to the Disney's plans to include more "Star Wars"-themed attractions in the parks but revealed that such will happen in the next couple of years.
"As we spend money at the parks on new attractions that are based on known brands, the likelihood of their success is greater. You're going to see better bets being made," Iger said during a conference call on Tuesday.
Jay Rosulo, Disney's finance chief and senior executive vice president revealed that patrons will more likely visit Disney parks if and when they see familiar franchises, Contact Music reported.
"They pull people from, 'Gee, I'm gonna go someday,' to,'I'm gonna go this year." Rosulo also confirmed the growth of Disney's theme parks despite "Star Wars'" absence, which means the franchise's inclusion would mean greater things for Disney.
Meanwhile, a previous article focused on why Disney should capitalize on "Star Wars" has been written by Richard Bilbao last month.
Bilbao's article on the Orlando Business-Journal mentioned, "While Universal Orland Resort is riding high on its Wizard World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley expansion, eyes are shifting to Walt Disney World and what it can do to raise the bar on theme park additions."
"Earlier this summer, rumors swirled that the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! at Disney's Hollywood Studios would be closed to make room for a Star Wars land expansion. However, there hasn't been any official word from Disney on the prospects of expanding the Star Wars footprint in that theme park," Bilbao added.
