Barcelona and Napoli are two giants in European football, but Napoli coach Rafa Benitez has emphasized their biggest difference-money.
The Napoli team will face Barca on Wednesday for a friendly, as they prepare for the 2014- 2015 season. Benitez openly agrees that his team can see eye- to- eye with Luis Enriquez's.
"In my opinion, there is a difference in principle with regards to the expenditure of the two teams," he told reporters. "I think it's about €500m.
"Napoli have a strong balance sheet and it will certainly improve with time, but today our financial potential is miles behind that of Barcelona. For this reason, mainly, perhaps the gap between the two teams remains remarkable.
"It will be a prestigious challenge against a team which have plenty of quality."
For Argentinian Gonzalo Higuain, Benitez said that he "is eager to return but he is not yet at 100 per cent." It can be remembered that Argentina finished second to Germany in the recently concluded World Cup in Brazil.
For his new recruit, Spain's Michu, one of the reasons why he joined the team is because of the coach.
He said: "I think it's a major leap in my career to play in the Champions League for the first time, for one of the most important clubs in Italy in front of a beautiful crowd," he told the South Wales Evening Post.
"I'm 28 and I've never had this opportunity, I couldn't wait any longer. I also wanted to try a different league and Napoli are one of the greats in Serie A.
"The fans are fantastic and I also have the chance to work with a great coaching staff.
"He [Benitez] spoke to me and explained many things about Napoli. I will do everything possible to heed his advice. The coach is one of the main reasons I joined."
