Ex- Barcelona coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino is now the unconfirmed coach of the Argentina national football team, replacing Alejandro Sabella, who stepped down from his position even after Lionel Messi and company managed to get into the World Cup final.
The said news was propagated by the country's football association, Argentina Football Association (AFA).
However, Martino's coaching of the Barcelona team has been far from impressive, after he made a disappointing 2013- 2014 season, where the team failed to win the Primera Division title, and even failed to reach the semi- finals of the Champions League, breaking the good luck from 2007.
Nevertheless, the new coach will be named as Sabella's successor officially in the upcoming days.
"Our first candidate is Martino. If we agree with the economic issue and the agreements that everyone seeks, Martino will be the new coach," said Silva.
"We have one outstanding point, and we'll either agree or we will not agree."
Actually, Martino was a deemed replacement for Sabella even before July 30, which marked the death of AFA's president, Julio Grondona.
It can be remembered that Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari also stepped down from his position after the Selecao had a disastrous World Cup in their home town. He was replaced by Dunga, an Brazil ex- coach, too, but it has not been going so well.
Dunga even commented about Neymar's hats and hair color.
However, Diego Maradona believes that he deserves to be the Argentina national team's coach, comparing himself to Dunga.
Maradona even said that the team did not even win well on any of their World Cup games.
"The team has no coach. I played for Argentina. If Brazil called Dunga, why didn't Argentina call me?" he told Ole.
"Anyway, I'm happy in Dubai and I don't have to kneel before anyone."
