A five-year-old girl raises $7,000 to bring cancer-stricken dad to Disneyland. Most people will think that it is not likely for a young daughter to think about bringing her terminally-ill father to a holiday - but it is in the case of Ruby. She touched people's hearts that they helped her make things possible for the whole family.
Damian Miles, 42, is battling cancer for over a year already. He was told a few days ago that he only has months to live. The news could have devastated the family - but not Ruby. She told him she will bring him to Disneyland "before the angels come".
But this is not possible without the help of the community where they live in. Because they cannot afford the trip, some people took extra efforts to offer them memories that they can hold on in their lifetime.
The Wellington, a local pub in Southport, England, through its owner Annie McTaggart, collaborated with 'Part of Your World Princesses' to raise funds to make her dream come true. Mike and Karen Parks organized several parties through their 'Part of Your World Princesses' but this is the one they considered extraordinary. Everyone in the crowd has gotten emotional, knowing that a daughter's mission to her father is coming true.
The community was able to raise £4,130 (close to $7,000), huge percentage of which came from a businessman who was touched by the story behind the fundraising. The good news was delivered to Ruby and her family through a princess party. Everyone was moved when she came out and cried when she saw her favorite princesses, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Cinderella. When the tickets were handed to her, her words were: "Does this mean I can take my Daddy to Disneyland?"
As of this writing, they are still gathering funds to pay for the entire trip. But for now, it is enough for people to know that a five-year-old girl raises $7,000 to bring cancer-stricken dad to Disneyland.
This benevolent effort of the community does not end here though as it plans to bring the extra cash that will be coming in to Ruby's trust fund, which she can use in her future.
This 'Five-year-old girl raises $7,000 to bring cancer-stricken dad to Disneyland' story will always be in the minds of those who are able to read or heard about it. And they will always get emotional.
