The cast of "Point Break" remake isn't complete yet so there are still possibilities of big stars joining the film. Many fans were disappointed when Gerard Butler suddenly backed out from doing the film. He was supposed to star as Bodhi, a character played by Patrick Swayze in the original movie shown in 1991.
Due to conflict of schedule, the 44-year old Scottish actor had to give the role to somebody else. The producers chose Edgar Ramirez, who is best known for his role in the French-German biopic series "Carlos". He appeared in Hollywood films such as "Zero Dark Thirty", The Bourne Ultimatum", and "Wrath of the Titans".
The Venezuelan actor recently starred alongside Eric Bana in the thriller "Deliver Us From Evil" shown in theaters last month. During an interview with We Got This Covered, Edgar Ramirez revealed how he is preparing for his role in "Point Break" remake. There's so much pressure on the actor because he will always be compared to the late Patrick Swayze, who did a great job portraying Bodhi.
Ramirez said, "Well, I'm working on it. It's very difficult to anticipate what things are going to turn out to be. I'm very organic as an actor so I'm letting the character grow out of me." The 37-year old actor added, "The only similarity that I can tell you so far is it's that subversive spirit, that rebellious spirit, that anti-system spirit that is what really the whole story is about. The structure is similar but the story is different. But we want to keep the spirit from the first one."
Apart from Edgar Ramirez, other actors included in "Point Break" remake are Luke Bracey (Johnny Utah), Teresa Palmer (Tyler), Ray Winstone and Delroy Lindo. Some of the world's best athletes will also appear in the film to do some crazy stunts. Also rumored to do a cameo in the reboot of Kathryn Bigelow's cult film is Megan Fox.
During an interview with Conan O' Brien, the star of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" revealed why she named her son Bodhi. The 28-year old actress said, "In Buddhism, it's the point when Buddha became enlightened and he reached nirvana, he was sitting beneath the bodhi tree. So, from there, but also from the greatest movie of all time, Point Break. I don't know if anyone remembers, Patrick Swayze was Bodhi. I would be lying if I said that that didn't influence me."
Since Megan Fox was greatly influenced by the classic surfing flick, do you think we will see her in the "Point Break" remake?
