The "Stonehearst Asylum" trailer possesses the dark eerie atmosphere true to the ambiance set by Edgar Allan Poe, the author of the short story used as basis for the film. Similar to other movies set in a dubious mental institution, the flick makes perfect use of an isolated hospital in a lonely island setting as the focal point of the mystery.
According to Screenrant, the movie was originally entitled "Eliza Graves." Its plotline was adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's short tale "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether."
The gist shared by Screenrant explains the connection between the scenes pieced together to comprise the "Stonehearst Asylum" trailer. Set during the 19th century, the tale begins with the arrival of Edward Newgate (Jim Sturgess) at the institution.
Upon his arrival, he meets his two new colleagues, Silas Lamb (Ben Kingsley) and Eliza Graves (Kate Beckinsale), whom he fell in love with. The scenes that followed in the "Stonehearst Asylum" trailer tells that it did not take long for Edward to realize there was something off about the entire asylum - the hospital itself, his colleagues and the system they employ.
However, the creative way in which the scenes for the trailer were arranged did nothing to reveal the mystery although it works well in exciting the audience, while arousing their interest.
With Brad Anderson at the director's chair, as reported by Cinema Blend, viewers can expect that he will maximize the use of the asylum to set off the dark secret at heart of the story. This is not his first time to direct a film about it, and given his performance in the 2001 renowned psychological thriller "Session 9," fans really have something beyond creepy to look forward to.
The mad mystery lurking in the walls of "Stonehearst Asylum" will reveal itself on October 24, 2014.
