Chris Martin of Coldplay is hinting that he has written a song for Rihanna, said a report from Billboard. The frontman expressed how he wants to make new music with the pop star following their 2011 collaboration "Princess of China," and is keeping himself busy as a way of moving on from ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
"Princess of China" was from the Chris Martin Coldplay band's 2011 album, "Mylo Xyloto".
At a recent interview with New York's "Fresh 102.7," Chris Martin was asked if Rihanna will be on the next Coldplay album, to which he replied: "I hope so, yeah. I have a really nice song which... maybe, I hope so."
Chris Martin has been working on new song for Rihanna, apparently even before the pop star has agreed on it: "I don't think she even asked, I just said, 'please can I try something?'" he said.
"She has so many amazing people writing for her," Chris Martin said. "It's like trying to win 'American Idol,' getting a song on Rihanna's album. It's hard. Everybody wants to write songs for her."
Chris Martin and Coldplay are still fresh off the May release of their sixth studio album, Ghost Stories. The frontman says that they are already working on new material.
"We knew we wanted to make this thing called Ghost Stories, and then make something else," he shared. "We have just an idea and then we're gonna go on tour after that."
In other news about Chris Martin, the Coldplay frontman recently broke his silence regarding his split from actress Gwyneth Paltrow. The two married in December 2003 and have two children - Apple, 10, and Moses, 8.
According to a report from Independent, Chris Martin made "made veiled references to his marriage breakdown in a new interview on Thursday."
"There's a phrase, which was written by a singer Leonard Cohen, which is 'The crack is where the light comes in,'" Chris Martin told America's Z100 radio host Elvis Duran.
"So, sometimes you have to go through something painful or breakage to see the beauty of things."
Chris Martin also explained his current relationship status with his superstar ex-wife when he appeared on "On Air With Ryan Seacrest."
I'm not the best interviewee on this kind of thing, but we're friends and proud parents," Chris Martin told Ryan Seacrest. "There's lots of love, and that's it."
