Which smartphone is the ideal choice for consumers? We pit the LG Volt against the Nokia XL to see which is device is worth the purchase.

In terms of design and display, this Nokia XL has a 5 inches IPS LCD display with 16M colors, a resolution of only 480x800pixels and a low pixel density of 187ppi. The display supports multitouch and it has light and proximity sensors. Its dimensions are 141.4×77.7×10.9 mm and weighs 190 grams.

The LG Volt's display is slightly smaller, measuring 4.7 inches IPS LCD with 18M colors, but it supports a higher resolution of 540x960pixels and a higher pixel density of 234ppi. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, so it’s resistant to scratches and has the light and proximity sensors as well. Its dimensions are 131.6x66x10.4mm and it’s almost 54 grams lighter than its rival.

For the hardware and OS, the Nokia XL is equipped with a dual-core 1GHz Cortex-A5 processor, which is backed up by a Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset and has an Adreno 203 GPU. Its internal storage is at 4GB, which is expandable for up to 32GB. It runs on the Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) OS and has 768MB of RAM.

This LG Volt has a more powerful processor, a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7, which is paired up with the Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 chipset and an Adreno 305 GPU. It has 8GB of internal memory, which is expandable for up to 64GB + 1GB of RAM and it runs on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS.

For the battery and camera specs, the Nokia XL is equipped with a Li-Ion 2000mAh battery (BN-02) which allows up to 13 hours of talk time on 3G and it withstands 720 hours on stand by mode. Meanwhile, the LG Volt has a Li-Ion 3000mAh battery, which is considerably last longer than its rival.

The Nokial XL's rear camera is at 5MP and comes with features such as 2592х1944pixels, autofocus, LED flash, panorama, 1/4” sensor size, face detection and video recording capabilities at 480p@30fps. It also has a secondary camera of 2MP.

The rear camera on the LG Volt comes with is 8MP and has features such as 3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash, HDR, geo tagging, panorama and video recording at 1080p@30fps. It also has a 1.3MP camera on the front.

The Nokia XL is mostly available in India, at the price of $190, while the LG Volt can be bought from amazon.com at the price of $150.
