France National Team player Samir Nasri has announced his retirement from International Football. The Manchester City midfielder was not able to join the team last World Cup in Brazil as decided by coach Didier Deschamps. Nasri dropped hints of his plans to retire last week.
According to Nasri last week"I've made the decision. I made it a while ago, but I will announce it when the time is right. With the national team I didn't win anything. So it's more easy to take this decision than if we'd just won something. When you play for a big club and you play lots of games, it's easy to come to this decision."
Nasri had an interview with British newspaper The Guardian where he said "I will only be 29 in 2016 for the European Championship, but the French national team doesn't make me happy."
He continued "Every time I go there, there is just more trouble. I face accusations about me and my family suffers from it and I don't want to make them suffer, so it's better to stop it and focus on my club career."
Nasri began his football career playing for the local youth club at Marseille. When he was nine he joined professional club Olympique de Marseille and spent the next seven years developing in the club's youth academy at La Commanderie, the club's training center.
Nasri has been with the National Team for seven years and since then he had won 41 caps, scoring five goals.
Nasri was also excluded from the National Team last 2010 where his girlfriend reigned her tirade over at Twitter dissing Deschamp and the France Team.
Nasri said "Let's face it, as long as he is going to be the manager, I don't think I have a shot after everything that has happened. It's not just him. He did what he thought was best for his team. I understand his choice. It is not something about him. I don't have any problem with him. It's just everything."
He added "It is not him who talks in the press, it is the press who say things about me and the players as well. Before this World Cup they were saying that some players complain (about Nasri). Why do you want me to be in the group with some players who can't even be true in front of me and tell me that they have a problem? I don't want to be there. I am not happy. I don't want to go there any more."
