A few months ago, "Zoolander 2" rumors started to spread that Justin Theroux will be directing the film. The 43-year old actor did a small role in the 2010 comedy that starred Ben Stiller and he has also been successful in writing for films such as "Iron Man 2" and "Tropic Thunder". Jennifer Aniston's fiancé also received praises for his first directorial job in "Dedication", which starred Mandy Moore and Billy Crudup.
A few years ago, Ben Stiller said that the sequel will be up to Paramount to produce and that he and Theroux have already gave them a draft. However, three years has passed and there's still no definite word from the producers. Fans are still wondering if the "Zoolander 2" rumors are true or not.
During an interview with Vulture, Justin Theroux confirmed that they are working on the sequel. The star of "The Leftovers" said, "Yeah, we've got a script for the sequel, and we've just been in talks again." He added, "We're trying to sharpen it and hone it and, actually, I don't want to jinx anything, but it looks like it actually might be starting to get up and running."
That's great news to all "Zoolander" fans! The first season of the new HBO series has been completed which means that Justin Theroux has more time to work on the sequel of the comedy flick. However, he revealed that he may not be directing it. The actor said, "I don't think I'm going to do it anymore. It really depends on whether the show [The Leftovers] gets picked up."
Theroux explained, "If it gets picked up, then I don't think I'll have the time to do it. So it'll probably get handed to Ben, which would be awesome." The 49-year-old comedian directed the first film so I'm sure he will be able to bring back the same antics he did for the original "Zoolander". But the latest "Zoolander 2" rumors was about him handing over the male model role to a younger actor. Who do you think will best portray the role of Derek Zoolander?
