A New Hampshire teen, Abby Hernandez, has returned to her family after nine months in captivity.
Hernandez, now 15, was abducted while walking home from her high school in Conway on October 9, 2013, according to the NY Daily News.
The teenager was subjected to "numerous acts of unspeakable violence," according to Abby Hernandez's attorney, Michael Coyne.
"Through her faith, fortitude and resilience, she is alive today and home with her family," a statement from Coyne reads.
The New Hampshire girl's lawyer continues, "Abby needs and wants some time and space to physically and emotionally heal. It is going to be a long process in pursuit of justice for Abby and for Abby to get physically and emotionally stronger."
The man reportedly involved in the disappearance of Abby Hernandez, Nathaniel Kibby, was arrested on July 28, according to the publication WGGB.
The 34-year-old man was charged with felony kidnapping and is being held on $1 million bond.
Michael Coyne thanked law enforcement, the Conway community, the people of New England and everyone who cared about or prayed for Abby Hernandez's safe return home on behalf of the teenager and her family. Coyne also thanked media for bringing attention to the kidnapping.
"We trust that justice will be done. On behalf of Abby, we ask that you be sensitive to the well-being of this child and give her the time and space she needs - that any of us would desire for a member of our own family or loved one who suffered as she has," wrote Coyne.
