A new Silent Hill game has been confirmed and the more thrilling part is, it will be in the genius hands of Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro! Officially titled as 'Silent Hills', the upcoming video game stars The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus.
Sony made the announcement of this game at their pre-Gamescom press conference last Tuesday, only that it was codenamed P.T. - an acronym for Playable Teaser. While Kojima tries to keep everything under the blanket, the developer shared a few points about teaming up with Del Toro:
'The one thing that I can say about Silent Hills, and this is something I've been discussing with Guillermo del Toro as well, is that originally we were thinking of making a game that would make you pee your pants, but at this point we've changed our minds, and now we're aiming for a game that will make you s*** your pants'(via Metro).
If we're going to do a backtrack, Silent Hill: Book of Memories was the most recent installment released in 2012. Unlike the prior single-player adventure game versions of Silent Hill, the last version was a multiplayer dungeon crawler, and majority of the reviews that we saw were not that impressive.
Should gamers look forward to a more exhilarating Silent Hill this time? Kojima raised the standards as he went on to say:
'One thing that you have to keep in mind is that, if a game is too scary, people just won't play it. If it gets too scary you just keep your eyes shut and soon it will be over. But if it's a game, people will just stop. So that's why there's a limit on how scary you can make a game.
'But in this case we're totally ignoring that and, you know what? If you don't want to keep on playing through the game, so be it. We don't care. That's the game we are aiming for' (via Metro).
Fans are reminded not to base their judgments on the P.T. as it was purposefully designed to look less impressive hence keep its mysterious side. Kojima Productions will be the team behind the new Silent Hill game and not a third party.
