The Gamescom 2014 games update come with new trailers and playable demos to boot!
The Gamescom 2014 games should tide fans over till the fourth quarter releases, considering the lull left behind by June's E3 event. There's the usual fare of games, rumored and confirmed, and some news took attendees by surprise, with developers announcing titles exclusive to certain consoles.
First on the list is the much-rumored and much-anticipated Rise of the Tomb Raider, scheduled to release next year. There's a catch to the good news, though, as developer Crystal Dynamics drops the bomb and announces it as an Xbox One exclusive.
Exclusives usually mean advance releases, with titles eventually ported to other consoles once the game has run its course on the stores. Still, PlayStation fans aren't happy with the news, even though two Tomb Raider titles have been announced to release within the next few months.
Microsoft and Sony went head-to-head with Gamescom 2014 games and new console features. Microsoft claims it'll offer "hundreds" of new games developed by third parties, flagship titles like Halo and Call of Duty included. Bundle promos are also slated for release in the coming months.
Fable Legends, Quantum Break, and Evolve are some of the new titles announced and demonstrated, and Forza Horizon 2 was also updated, to be released next month.
Sony seemed unfazed by the wave of new releases and updates for the Microsoft console, banking on its 10 million PlayStation 4 consoles sold as proof it's superior to the Xbox One.
Sony claims that Destiny, a PS4 exclusive, is the most pre-ordered new IP in history. It also has console features to boast of like SharePlay, which allows gamers to invite others to join games in-progress. Sony will also allow gamers to upload recorded gameplay videos directly to YouTube.
The selection of Gamescom 2014 games are usual fare, and E3 participants are likely left wanting for fresher updates. News of titles are welcome still, especially for fans eager to confirm initial or rumored release dates (cbsnews.com).
