This number already shows an increase of 7,968 from yesterday's stat of 55,426,073. Her daily average followers are 29,152. Katy Perry is most tagged for #prism, #concerts, #music, #california, #beingirrelevant, #untalented, and #love.
According to E!'s report, Katy first snatched the throne from Prince of Pop Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) in November 2013. Katy had 46.48 million followers while Bieber had 46.47 million. Nine months before he became the King of Twitter, it was Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) who was enjoying her reign for two years.
As of August 16, 2014, it is still Bieber in second place with 53,549,043 followers. This number is still impressive as it gains a growth of 3,502 from yesterday.
US President Barack Obama (@BarackObama) is in third with 45,047,456. YouTube (@youtube) comes in in fourth with 44,316,903. Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) lands in the fifth spot with 42,625,056. Lady Gaga falls at sixth with 41,770,109. Britney Spears (@britneyspears), Rihanna (@rihanna), Instagram (@instagram), and Justin Timberlake (@jtimberlake) complete the top-ten list with the most number of followers in the world.
Among the top ten, Bieber has the most number of tweets with 27,483. Second is Obama with 12,284. The most followed person in Twitter (that's Katy) only has total tweets of 5,963, which lands her at fifth place.
In terms of following, Obama follows 648,809 Twitter accounts - which place him on the top spot. Britney Spears is at number two with 402,237. Katy, the most followed person in Twitter, only follows 153. Bieber is more unselective with 138,653.
