The MTV Video Music Awards 2014 team has announced a new category! According to a report from MTV.com, this year's VMAs will have an additional award for "Best Lyric", with nominees such as Demi Lovato & Austin Mahone.

Demi Lovato and Austin Mahone will go head to head versus Katy Perry, 5 Seconds Of Summer, and Ariana Grande in the socially-voted Best Lyric VMA category.

According to the report, the additional category of the MTV Video Music Awards 2014 is for artists who have stepped up the lyric video game for the year.

Demi Lovato is nominated for her "Really Don't Care" video. Austin Mahoney did a 70s throwback with "MMM Yeah."

Other nominees for the Best Lyric Award are Katy Perry for "Birthday", 5 Seconds Of Summer for "Don't Stop", and Ariana Grande for "Problem".

Fans can vote for the Best Lyric Award by using the designated hashtags on Twitter, Instagram and Vine: #vote5sos, #votearianagrande, #voteaustinmahone, #votedemilovato and #votekatyperry.

Report has it that artists confirmed to perform at the music channel's annual awards show include Usher, Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer, Maroon 5, and Iggy Azalea.

Pop and R&B diva Beyonce was also recently confirmed to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards 2014. She will receive a special lifetime acheievement recognition, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which has been awarded in previous VMAs to artists such as Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson.

Fans can catch the MTV Video Music Awards 2014 on August 24, Sunday at 9/8c ET. This year's VMAs will be held to at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

According to LA Times, this year's VMAs will be the first awards show to broadcast from the Forum since it reopened earlier this year after a $100-million makeover by Madison Square Garden Co.
